I just bought a set of triple axle tear drops from Fenders N More. They came out great, but yes they're pricey, I think tandem axle would be quite a bit cheaper though. Pacific trailers site has some options without the teardrops...?

Depending on how much weight is on the tires, you can probably run some car tires to get the profile you want. Just make sure you're not over the weight limit of the tire and you're good. Thats what all the west coast trailers with custom wheels are using. I used low profile car tires for 16 years no issues...my new trailer has car tires on it too.
