i recently purchased an 85 242ls, the engine is a small block, and i was told it is around 350-400 hp. i know it has a comp cam, dont have the specs with me, trickflow heads, edelbrock dual plane, stock quadrajet, and emi thunder manifolds. the boat came with a 19p high ive. and is reving to like 5500. it plains off very fast but thats more rpm than i want for full throttle. i also dont pull skiers so i dont need fast planing, more into top speed. with that i hit 53. i tried a tempest plus 3 blade 21p off a verado and hit 56 top at 4900 and it still planes off good. the 21 isnt mine. so i was curious what input i could get as far as props. it needs to be a mercury prop becuase i am a mercury tech and we all love discounts. i was thinking about a mirage 3 blade?

If you are simply looking at speed I'd hunt for a Mirage 21" or perhaps a Laser II 21" prop. A Rev 4 in 19" pitch may work too. Keep in mind the Rev 4 will load the engine like a 3 blade with 2" ore pitch. In other words a Rev 4 in 19" will load the motor nearly the same as a Mirage 21". In addition Rev 4 19" will NOT be the same as a High Five 19" as far as engine load.

I have a Merc Mirage 21" pitch solid hub in great shape I will let go for $150 + shipping if you are interested.
Also have a Mirage 23" pressed hub, same price and a 21" cleaver for $100. Good luck I bet you will fall in love with the 242.
