Default Haulover Inlet to Chub Cay

Planning a trip to Chub Cay Thursday June 7th. I will have 500 gallons of fuel on board so that wont be a problem. Biggest question is it safer to go over the north end of Bimini or cut through at south Bimini between Bimini and the Sapona?

Are you going to clear customs in Bimini or even Cat Cay to the south? Cat is convenient and a cool place but I think they charge an extra $100 vs. taking the walk through Alicetown in North Bimini.

No I am planning on going non-stop to Chub. We go to Bimini several times a year and have been to Cat once. Thought we would be a little more Adventurous .

I have crossed on the south side of Bimini without going down to Cat with no difficulty. I expect you are aware there is an unmarked cut thru the reef a mile or so SE of South Bimini. Hopefully your chart plotter has a track line that you can follow. Safe travels.

What is your draft on plane? What kind of chart plotter(s) do you have? And have you made reservations at Chub already? I heard the prices have gone through the roof over there.

Draft at idle is listed at 38 inches so a little over 3 ft. No clue of draft on plane. I have both Very new Simrad and Garmins on board. I looked at the charts last night and I do see an unmarked path south of Bimini. I have had this boat in that area before and did fine so I think that is the route I will take. I will go at Idle until I hit deeper water then back on plane. I called Chub last week and I think it is like 4$ a foot a night. Thats about what Bimini World Resorts Charges. Its a little cheaper if you are at Fishermans Village at World resorts instead of the Mega yacht side but I dont think they have made Repairs yet to Fishermans Village from the Hurricane. I will try to post a small Trip Report once back from Chub.
