Default HIN. Numbers on a 24 Pantera?

Went to look at a 24 Pantera? today with a friend, there was no hin.number or plate on the transom, when I questioned him about it he said back in 1977 they didn't have. Is this right?

That is incorrect.
I own hull number 002 and it's a '77'
it has a "WCW" HIN number.

Probably just another 24-7 splash.
Worth a bit more to the seller if it's marketed as a "pantera"

There is a 78 for sale a few short miles from me.
The transom has the HIN stamped in it but not very deep. (begins with WCW)
The boat was painted many years ago.
I could see how with one more sand and repaint where it would be totally gone.

Would like to see pics of the 77.

I masked off the HIN number area so I didn't lose it during the paint and body works

Yeah I thought the same with the curved windscreen and location of the side vents.
