In what turned out to be another fun-filled long weekend on Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks, the 2018 Lake Race on Saturday provided plenty of action-packed racing between the 30-plus teams competing in the OPA event.

Miss GEICO actually prevailed in the Extreme-class contest. The original story was incorrect and the headline and text on Speedonthewater.com have been changed to reflect the official OPA results. We apologize for any confusion our story may have caused. Thank you Gary Stray for the heads up.

"the Extreme/Unlimited victory went to Wake Effects after a back-and-forth battle early in the race ended with the Miss GEICO team, despite some mechanical gremlins, taking the victory"
This paragraph is very confusing.

Thank you for the kind words.Yeah, coverage of that event is a bit tough. We had no problem getting images thanks to Pete Boden, but we'll have a reporter there (likely not us given the rest of our travel schedule) to cover it exclusively for Speedonthewater.com next year. We like to have offshore racing stories go live on the same day the races run and we pull it off with SBI thanks to the SBI Livestream and Mr. Boden, but it's trickier for OPA when Johnny Saris (our OPA correspondent) isn't there. (Mr. Saris couldn't make the haul from New Jersey to Missouri.)
Short of it: We plan to provide better and more timely coverage of the Lake Race in 2019.
