98 mirage 454 mag mpi with a bravo 1 outdrive
Yesterday I pulled my out drive off to inspect my u-joints and bellows. Everything was normal so I re installed the drive with a new seal kit and went out on the lake. I noticed three bilge plump come on a couple times so I knew I had a problem. I removed the drive today and everything looked fine. There was no evidence of water inside the below.
I previously have only owned boats with alpha out drives, this is my first bravo. If I'm not getting water in threw three below or the shift cable boot I'm bout sure how I'm getting water inside the boat. The boat sits in a garage and I always remove the plug so rain water would not be an issue. Is there something I could be missing?
Thanks
Dave

Doubt if its the drive or bellows. Put the boat in the water and look. Might need to use your camera but could be any of the hoses which run the water thru the motor, the exhaust Y pipe, power steering or oil cooler, or exhaust boots. Put it in and look around, should be easy enough to find and may need to use your phome camera to get where your head wont fit

Just to add something else , as far as hoses are concerned .
Once had the main raw water hose from the transom to the water pump almost fall off due to a slack mechanic . As much as I hated it the telltale was dried salt splatters on the oil pan and lower front of engine . It was just at the point before totally dropping off (and sinking the boat) that pressurized water was forcing its way past the connection .
Scary stuff.

Seeing that you experienced the auto pump kicking in while the engine wasn't running is useful info and might lead to that particular hose , as you say it's underwater at a rest.
Getting to the hose clamp on that pump isn't the easiest because of its buried low and somewhat hidden location but check it well.
If it's not that , well at least I got my .02c in .. lol
