Update. 1978 cig 28ss merctrans help
Hey guys I posted a couple days ago about the fact that my 28SS cigarette would stay in forward or reverse gear unless I wiggled the throttle back and forth so I wanted to update on the set up that I have
The boat has mercury transmissions mertransll i’m aware there are issues with the electronic motor that shifts the valve body from what I understand I’m also under the impression there is a cable kit that this can be replaced with.
Can this set up be adjusted or possibly replace the motor that actuates shifting from gears.
Is this typical of the Merc trans to be sticking in reverse or forward unless I wiggle the shifter at which point t will go into neutral. and is there an easy fix.

merc trans shift bracket
I also had a 78 78ss the part number for the complete mechanical shift bracket is 85789a2 it is nla. but if you go to your merc dealer they can use the nla parts locator to see if other dealers have any i did this severl years back and there were more than 10 available nation wide
