Default Baja 29 Outlaw on LOTO performance?

I currently own a 99 25 Outlaw and do most of my boating below the 18mm because my boat seems to gets swallowed up and beat to death if we try to venture any further down stream, and some weekends getting past Paradise is a challenge. Im looking into purchasing a bigger boat like a 29 Outlaw with Twins, but was curious how they handle the rougher water or would I be wasting my money? I would love to step up to a 33 Outlaw or a 35 lightning, but financially Im not there yet.
Thank you in advance for your feedback

A 29 OL will be a significantly better ride than your 25 OL, but I would recommend trying to find a way to step up to something in the 32-35' range.

It’s still weird water, but it will do better than your 26. My boat is 29.5 and heavy and there are weekends where it’s just flat uncomfortable for my family to be on that part of the lake. We just pass through to get where we are going. I love driving in it. When I’m with my buddies it’s a blast. It’s all relative...a 50 footer that weighs 30k lbs would be the ticket for a smooth ride LOL!!

I had 2 29’s and rode in a couple 25s down there, and the ride in the 29 is much better, that being said, make sure it has k planes and external steering, as I recall, I set the drives at 5 and the tabs at 5 and ran over 50 to keep on top and it rode pretty good.... another option is the 32 magnum/ caliber/ outlaw, those can be had for less money than a 33 and ride just as good... PBC has one listed in the classifieds as a matter of fact.

I too have had the 25ol, 33ol, and 40ol. Every time you get longer, the better the ride. That being sad, some days, it does not matter what you have it is rough. Luckily it is few and far between. My suggestion is look at your budget and purchase the largest (Length) your budget can afford. It does not matter what you buy, in a few years you will want something else anyways.... (We have all been there)

The magnums are a good choice for ride, but the styling is a bit dated. If that does not hinder your enthusiasm you can buy a lot of boat for the money. And regardless of what you are looking at, get a survey done before you sign for it. None of the boats are "new" anymore.

Locally here at LOTO, I have seen 4 different M/C/O's listed for sale recently, I looked at the one PBC has listed for a guy couple of weeks ago, was nice one owner boat. He had a deposit on it pending survey. The 29's were popular, so if that is what you want, finding a nice one should work out.

I run an older 27' Formula, before they included the platform, so, close to what you are looking at. It crushes anything. I have no issues running it anywhere. It is a heavy ass boat, though, which helps a bunch.
