Default a ? about 2003 JC Tritoon Performance (pic included)

Hi,

I am pretty new to this forum. I do a lot of searching before posting any questions. I have decided that it is time for me to go ahead and post my experience and see if anyone can share their inputs!

I have a 30 ft 2003 JC Tritoon with 350 mag mercruiser engine with a deck roof. It is a beautiful boat and had it for 2 years now. I looked at the manufacturer's specification for this boat and the boat top speed is 45 mph but at WOT, it only goes to 30.5 mph at 4900 rpm. That's quite a gap in the specification, where did that 15 mph go? I would like to increase to 35 to 40 to be satisfied but dont know where to begin with.

Hopefully, tritoon owners out there with 350 block, would help out to see what improvements to the performance need to be made.

Thanks!
Travis

Without more information its hard to steer you in the right direction.

What is the HP of YOUR motor? What was the HP of the motor the manufacturer used in producing specs? There were many '350' variations in hp.

What drive do you have? What ratio?

What prop are you using? (pitch, #blades, diameter, model, stainless or aluminum etc)

How are you measuring your speed? Off your speedo or GPS?

It would be beneficial to have RPM / GPS Speed breakouts from idle to WOT in 200 or 250 rpm increments for your existing combination. This will let us know how well the power is getting down to the water.

we run a 24 tritoon with a V6 volvo stern drive and it will run close to 45 with just a couple of people and will still cruise in the upper 30's loaded. as Trash stated we would need to know what all the parameters are for the engine, drive etc and if that is on GPS

Hi Trash and Compedgemarine, I will gather all of the details next time I go to my boat's slip. I will be out of town for the next two weekends, once I get all of the details, I will PM you guys to give you heads up that the details have been posted.

Here are the details that I know so far.

- As for HP - per JC's manufacturer's spec - it is 260 HP powered by V8 5.7L 350 Magnum Mercruiser.
- I am using an aluminum prop, I believe it is 17 pitch, but the diameter is unknown, will need to dig up my order email and post it on next post. It runs 30.5 mph at 4900 rpm at WOT.
- speed is being measured by GPS.

I will test do a GPS test breakouts on my next trip and share the findings.

Thanks!
