Default 98 American Offshore 3100, Any advice?

Never had a cat before, any opinions on a AO 3100. It has just mildly build 454's with bravos's and needs a little tlc. How are the quality of the boats? Do i need to look out for any rot? What is a pretty good price for one? There is not a lot to compare on the market right now. I know its a lot of questions, but i dont know a lot about them and any help is appreciated. I just dont want to get burned

I've ridden on a 3100 w/ 496HOs and it was a great handling boat. I remember a slight hop between 75-85mph but then the boat smoothed out and ran on rails-low 90mph boat. I own an AO NSX 2600 and love it. The bottom design is based on Hustler's 25 Talon. The cockpit has side by side race style seating up front (driver and throttleman) and a four person bench in the back (it looks like they took the 3100 cockpint and Frankensteined the fabrication into the 2600). I would ask for a water test and make sure everything works and buy it and be on your way. These boats pack a lot of value. Good luck.
