Have twin 502s and noticed belt dust at the bottom and sides of the engine compartment. Not bad but is a concern since this should not be happening. At quick glance one thing that stands out is when push the serpentine belt is see the sea water pump flex a little.
I have not pulled any thing yet but do t suspect and issues with pulley wobble. Seems like all the bolts are secured since flex is happening at bottom of bracket.
can anyone verify mounting points on this pump looks like it mounts at 3 bolt points.
Also both motors are doing the same.

should be no flex on the sea water pump...on my BBC the pump has two main bolts at the 12-oclock position tot he block....then a 3rd mounting point at the 6-oclock position to a bracket that spans under the harmonic balancer over to the other side of the engine to a mounting hole on the block...mine is a v-belt setup but has no flex at all.
Also make sure your pulleys are aligned....having them not in a straight line can wear a belt too.

Thanks for the feedback Wally. I will definitely take a look at this. Not sure mine is the same since it is a serpentine belt style.
But definitely good to know that it is a solid setup with no flex

Also on a similar note, what are you guys doing for pulleys that are starting to show signs of rust. I was thinking of sanding or sandblasting, prime, then re spray.
not sure yet f it will hold up?
thoughts?
