Default rebuilding bench seat plywood. what to seal with??

Im rebuilding my bench seat & side panels with construction plywood then having them reupholstered. My question is what the best way to seal the wood? some info i got was to use anything oil based. is this all i should do? would behr oil based enamel work from home depot? Also thinking of this product BEHR PREMIUM Transparent Penetrating Oil Wood Finish
any tip appreciated thanks.

Put 2 coats of fiberglass resin on it, first coat will soak in pretty good, second coat builds nice. Can do a 3rd if you wish.

If you can seal ends, end joints before assembly added bonus.

the Behr is a finish, not a sealant. the oil based enamel is a finish, not a sealant. Some may say this is splitting hairs...but what they said...if you want it to last.

Many years ago, i made an ice box for the cabin of a sports boat. Used the same method, glass resin over plywood then painted and it worked fine. Inside and outside sealed nicely, pretty easy and dirt cheap.

I use polyester laminating resin. (no wax)

I've also gone back over it with gelcoat on the inside to give it a finished look.
Outside covered with vinyl.

Problem with that is it has wax. So the second coat won't stick to the first.
