Black Thunder hatch HELP!
#1
460 EC single hatch - motor won't go up - only down. I have no idea how to access the ram to remove the bolt so I can manually open it . Anyone ever had to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have heard in the past that one or two thoughtful builders made an access hatch on the front of the engine compartment bulkhead that allowed access to undo the thing and then you could lift it manually . I'm sure you've already checked that !
I had one that went lazy a few years back and wouldn't lift but if I had someone hit the switch I could help the hatch up by giving lift myself . Although I did build in redundancy and have a fail safe way to get it open if it ever dies again for whatever reason .

Are the bolt heads that hold the clevis to the underside of the hatch visible on the top side of the hatch ?
I'm not sure how yours is mounted but they ought to be pretty similar. If you can get to the heads of the bolts on the outside of the hatch you could pray that you could undo them without the nuts inside turning .Then the ram would drop away and you could lift the hatch .
( I welded the 2 nuts to the clevis so you can always undo the bolts from the outside )
