Default Reman 454 oil bypass valves seem wrong

Could use some help. I've got an '87 Baja 240 project boat. It came factory with a mark iv 454, and I'm repowering it with a gen 6 454. The oil cooler configuration is different. Everything I've read on here says to remove the center oil bypass valve completely and replace the outer one with a 30psi valve. But this marine reman came with the center installed and the outer removed. Now I'm confused. I'm using the mercruiser factory oil filter relocator plate/cup. Any help would be appreciated.

You need the opposite. You want to remove the center valve and most folks block off the outer port with a freeze plug. At the very least put the 30# in the outside port.

That's what I was thinking. Guess I'll have to call the reman company. Don't want to void any warranty by changing it.
