I have a 1991 26ft boat with a bravo one on it..
here is my sad story, uhhhh
got the boat spent 3 months on weekends using it, not racing or anything as i was still getting used to a bigger boat and it is not a race boat nor am i a racer. well i threw a rod due to low oil issue somehow. i spent 1800 on rebuild after i did all laboar and removed engine dropped it to builder.
after 2hrs break-in on muffs in driveway as instructed no issues so i took it out.to water, well 20 min on cruise 3/4 throttle and i got mass blowby. it cracked a piston and i had to do all the work again and he charged me another 1400. he claimed i had a timing or lean condition yet my boat ran no problem for 3 months and only and a rod bearing go out(as a mechanic i thought that was weird) so i purchased new holley marine carb
well after break-in on in driveway i took the 2nd build out, well got 45 min, took 2hr break then got on plane again and boom broke a rod and that broke the cam and other parts like oil pan ect. this time he claimed i must have over revved it, i was like really???
come to find out he was just replacing broken parts not checking others on an old engine so i make him install h-beam rods and forged pistons with high volume oil pump. over $3k later when he also put on a $500 racing marine pan but at that point i did not want to wait more or do the work myself since it was already installed i said the hell with it and paid it since he said it would work with my dipstick. little did i know or i that no it is not the case.
anyway i break it in at a friend docks and install a vacuum guage to fine tune the carb as well as work with holley techs . so now i got it running great still not even broke in at all
and i look and see stock marine gm plugs are ac delco spark plugs and retune it to them, had 21vacuum working and running great. i took many videos documenting it all luckily and then it happened 930pm at night at 3900rpms.
pop!!!!!!!! dudududududdudududududu
i turn off engine and find the plug popped out of engine, the body remained in block with tip perfectly intact. but prcylin and center tip blew out. turns out it blew a hole thru the head from cyl 4 to 6 and blew the gaskets to 8. so i file a claim with gm but it will take 3months to maybe over a year if they indeed pay since the plugs have a 12month 30k warranty..GM rep said he has only see this one other time.
so since i am on perm disability my 4yr old does not understand i dont have money to fix, so i borrow all i can to piece together a motor i called frankenstien, spent 8 straight days 2 all nighters to get it running, take it out and it runs great, then my input shaft seal started leaking bad and input shaft bearing failed all suddenly. it tore up the bearing race and left a groove in the housing just at the end of the bearing so i dont think it is fixable and once again i dont have any money.
guess i am hoping to find someone who upgraded to better drives and would be willing to donate the old usable drive to me or just an upper if someone maybe broke the bottom of theirs and decided to upgrade instead.
guess a miracle is what i am hoping for....lol
i can wait and save many years to fix but for the boy i have to try any way to possibly get it back on water for him to enjoy and fish since he just caught his first fish when we broke down...
so if anyone has an old bravo they would like to donate please let me know.
i am located in California near SF area.(1hr) can drive my truck for pickup
come on miracle....lol
also anyone know what other drives would bolt on to my housing?
my transom serial is 0D484008
drive serial is 0D470465

What I have is an old (1992) Bravo upper that I used for testing on my Daytona. It came off my 34 SCARAB.
The tail above the prop where the cavitation plate goes has been cut and ground on in order to clear a Maximus 5 blade prop when the lower is a -3 IMCO shortie.
It is ugly.
BUT the main problem is that I have "0" spare time right now.
I own an HVAC company and with the extremely hot summer we are having I don't have 15 minutes of spare time and IF I do I have personal things that I have to do.
