I have a 1990 wellcraft 233, mercruiser 350 Alpha one. I was driving and heard a loud pop, I stopped and engine died. I am able to start the engine and run at idle and nothing seem to wrong. Although if I try to put it gear, it boggs down and dies. Also if I try and rev te engine I get a loud screech. Any idea what broke?

Ayuh,...... Could be alotta things,..... Pull the drive, 'n try it, to isolate whether it's a motor problem, or drive problem,......
