I want to change the cast iron 454 exhaust to 496 exhaust. Any advice from those who may have done this already? Will there be issues with the throttle bracket and electronic bracket? Thanks for any help.

i have a gen iv bbc i put the 496 manifolds on. i relocated all my stuff to the transom except for the oil filter housing i mounted it to the rear of the 496 manifold. its a ***** getting that black paint off but ones you do you can polish the risers and paint the manifold what ever color you want for a much more custom looking set up.

I did this with my MK-IV and did pretty much the same that Beaver did with his. One thing that I did that made things go together a little more easily was drilling out the bolt holes a little. With my set a 3/8 bolt was a little tight going in. A 3/8 bit took care of that.
The 496 manifold when bolted to a MK-IV or Gen V/VI block puts the riser exit a little outboard of the exhaust tips. Exhaust hose will fix this, but if you’re extending the risers for any any reason, you may run into alignment issues. I had this exact problem and ended up going with Stainless Marine.
