A lot of variables depending on whats needed. I would budget at least 20k, maybe more if the headers are leaking.

I'm doing one subbing out machining myself and I'll be in it at least 6.5k and that's doing it on the cheap ( new rods, Pistons, roller cam, lifters, heads, valves, rockers, rebuilding supercharger my self, etc does not include manifolds)

If you do it yourself I'd budget 8k each depending on what they need.

To give you an idea Eddie Young quoted me 12k to 13k for him to do the work, don't think that includes freight

Thank you I’m budgeting at least 25 K for both. It’s good info to know. I’m covering myself.

I don't know where you are located but Eddie Young (Young Performance) would be an excellent place to rebuild your 525s.

you say "looking to purchase" so the question is where has this boat been? if fresh water and just rode hard and put up wet then the prices quoted are probably close. if the boat was in salt and rode hard then you may not have much worth building. where all has this boat been in its life?

We’re located in N. California. The boat I’m thinking about buying is in Haverhill Massachusetts.

So it is a salty boat, might just want to replace.
