Hi guys,
this is my 1st post as I’m a 1st time buyer of a boat of this category. I’m moving to Nassau Bahamas and wanted to buy a Donzi 27ZR for island hopping etc. My house however only has a dock and not a lift, also there is not anywhere around me I can store the boat out of the water! Is this a terrible idea to keep this boat in salt water? if so I guess I’ll have to go to a centre consul with outboards. If not has anyone any advice on how to look after and what I need to do?
Thanks in advance, Tom

I'd make sure you had someone over there that wants to work on Mercury I/O stuff.
Here is a lift alternative:

Completely understand your situation , it's exactly the same out here. No end of the day haul out facilities , no recreational/private trailering and very salty water .
I already know the answer , but ask the locals how they deal with it . Oh , and then there's that little problem of being in hurricane alley that means you have to have a plan to stash the boat in a hurry somewhere safe . One thing about the o/b option is that at least you can tilt them out of the water but the salt is always there , regardless.
Salt is anathema to most folks on this site but some of us have no choice .

Just got back from puerto rico and the us virgins, outboards are the only way to go in the islands apparently, sport fish or center console with some kind of sun cover makes perfect sense.

Not just saying this because I own a 27ZR but I agree with everything above and don't like seeing nice boats deteriorate.
Not just the antifoul on the hull and drive but the salt in the air is a killer. If something with outboard power might satisfy your boating needs, I'd go for it.
RR
P.S. My boat is stored on trailer, undercover but check my signature below......

well it looks like I’m going to have to go for a centre console with outboards 😞. Thanks for all the advice and help. I’m considering one of those inflatable floating docks and being relentless with flushing after every use but the advice on here has worried me a bit to much 😬
