John Hice is a cool dude. Talked to him on the LOTO Strip. He said he was not a speed freak and has run 116 at 1/4 throttle! Stated that he just wanted to put on a show with a bit of fire from the exhaust at the starting line.

Sorry, didn't mean to suggest anything about the owner (show-off inference), I followed his build thread and was very impressed. He comes across as a nice guy who's built a boat with big power and truly doesn't need a 'run up' to get to 116mph. We can all see there's plenty left in that engine!

I thought it would be cool and do it like they did many many years ago from a standing start and still achieve triple digits and it did in both runs. First run was really sloppy. It was fun showing off the only turbine powered boat in the event and in a 25' boat at that. Stupid Stupid Power!
Over the coarse of this next year I plane to make a few modification to the boat to make it a little more comfortable and put some more time in the seat. It has way more power than it needs to run up in the 130s. It's going to take some time to get my confidence in it for them kind of numbers
