8-71 Clearance

03 Merc gen6 502 with a 8-71 on it. stock distributor is sitting super close to the rear bearing plate on the blower, any one else have this issue or is it normal?

I have an al star brand basically msd clone Bilet dist and its roughly 3/4 inch away from my rear bearing plate on my 8-71 so I believe that is normal
