Question 260 circulating pump

Can you change a circulating pump on a 496 in a 260 without removing the motor? Just curious it's staring to leave a drop of antifreze every now and then.

Yes you can and I have them in stock all USA made. And they come complete with the special gaskets to install. It is wise to buy a couple other parts here for the install to make it done 100 percent right and 100 percent done only once for the change outs. I give all that info out as well.

500 hours of average running over time one should really start thinking about changing the water circ pump.

If running hard alot and never changed anti freeze you better start thinking about it at 300 to 450 hours MAX for a new water circ pump on the 496..

price is 200 bucks plus shipping less than OEM MERC

MerCruiser 496 Mag (H.O. Model) Block, Camshaft & Pistons Parts

heck I am too cheap in price even junky Sierra super rough casting is more money than what I have made here in the USA. And Sierra pulley mount on the pump metal is like very cheap pot metal. Price shown and their discount --- number 36 in link above. Merc and Sierra both over 200 beans

What else would you change out as well? What kind of warranty do you offer?

PART wise 6 months against the part only. No labor warranty, Very hard to know if installer mistake just as the same if you bought a part from pep boys and installed it yourself or even off a MERC dealer. NO one is going to warrant labor unless your a OEM cert shop stocking OEM parts.

EBAY -- Amazon has zero warranty. Plus no one there has installed parts to get tips, advice and helpful processes to make the job alot easier and hopefully trouble free. I actually turn wrenches EVERYDAY on boats. Do not sit behind a desk and push paper like many in this industry.

For 2019 I am upping the price on these. way to cheap compared to the competition. And the special gaskets are included

By far even hot rod marine engines closed cooling is far better all the way around regardless of water. . All Merc 496 come standard with closed cooling and if one got rid of it closed cooling - the stock PCM is tuned for closed cooling.

A good example since 2006 and up Merc racing closed cooled models the norm. The same from alot of innovation engines

Just saying and for anyone whom does not know --- a cross over will not work for close cooled apps
