Default Dumb Question

I know this is a dumb question, but since it's 50 degrees here, raining, an looks like November outside I figured I'd be the first "winter dumb azz question thread".

I was trying to avoid the NFL crybabies and surfing the interweb yesterday; I got sidetracked like 47 dozen times and ended up watching a YouTube video of a Skater (I think - don't really remember) with Merc 1100's which was idling at the dock.

The boat at idle was QUIET.

Do the turbos really muffle the sound that much ? Or was something wrong with the sound ?

Post the video. Turbo motors are much quieter than a 1075sci, but I still wouldn't call them quiet.

Was it a square transom, or was the exhaust under a bustle? The bustle really quiets things down, especially if it's mostly under water.

Turbo motors around the docks are much more quote than the past 1000HP motors, especially if there is a Bustle on the boat. Once open up though the sound is all there.

A turbo has a side benefit of acting as a muffler. I have a few friends that run an open exhaust on a street car. It's not quiet like stock, but not that loud either.

At the 44 second mark you hear the merc turbo motors in the 42X with big block stuff before and after it.

at 1:43, that was us with 1100 Turbo's in the Sonic. My 525's were twice as loud.

The 1350's have catalytic convertors? I thought anything over 500HP didn't require them why the heck would you do that on a 1350?
