Default Fountain 42 vs Fountain 47

Does anyone have experience with these 2 hulls. I was thinking of a 42 with 700’s or a 47 with 850’s or 1075’s. Does the 47 lose that sport boat feel, is it too big? Is the 42 a perfect Hull? We have some big water on the east coast and was looking to upgrade.

Big difference! Sport boat vs flying condo! 5 feet longer but much bigger and higher! You can stand in cabin its roughly 5'10 so 70 inches high vs around 45-48 if my memory serves me right! Closed bathroom
not the same machine! If you look for speed go 42
if looking more for confort go 47
my triple 525 47 ran 88-90 ish so 850 must be quite fast!

Hi Jeff. Thanks for the info. Did you ever have the 47 in rough water. How did she handle?

Both handle the rough well. The 42 feels fun and fast. The 47 takes a lot of that fun away as it just crushes thru. Big thunder marine had a few of each to choose from. You could compare the two side by side.

Thanks for the lead Tom. I’m interested in a 2008 or newer and only want 2 engines. I just can’t deal with the headaches of a third.

I have been on a 47, it smashes the water! Quite fast w/ warmed up trip 600SCs, great Lake Erie boat. Runs noticeably different than my 38 Gun (which I assume would be close to a 42 non-step), and has a lot more amenities.

The above 47 is for sale, although trips, it's been well taken care of, new interior, refreshed engines, a lot of money spent and a good deal for what he's asking.
