Default 598 Rebuild with wet exhaust - Reversion / Cam Questions

I'm planning on pulling my engine over the winter to re-rig the bilge, clean everything up and swap to a wet exhaust.

The current specs on the engine are:

598 CI dart tall deck block
Scat 4.500 crank
Scat 6.535 rods
Je 4.560 bore pistons
Camshaft Comp cams 260/268 @.050
112 lobe Sep
.625 lift
Brodix bb3 heads
366 cnc intake runners
2.300 valves
Edelbrock sv632 intake manifold
Gil oil pan
Roller rocker arms
Arp head bolts
Felpro mls head gaskets
Melling hi volume oil pump
~750 hp
9.5-1 compression ratio

Id like to maintain similar power levels, and remain on 93 pump. I believe the wet exhaust is a must; the primary reason being sound restrictions where I live (88db at idle). Id also like to be able to carry on a conversation at idle and bring down the sound a bit at cruising speeds.

Reversion is obviously a concern, and I don't believe with the current cam swapping to a wet exhaust alone will be safe.

I'm interested in hearing thoughts on potential exhaust solutions with the current engine setup, as well as options / opinions on cam changes.

Thanks in advance,

Coop

Do you have the cam card and or timing events. 112 lsa I've never had issues what so ever but wondering how much overlap you have. Personally I think your leaving some power on the table however that might not be your goal. What are you using for wet exhaust.

Unfortunately I do not have the cam card (or build sheet for the motor), only the information above that the previous owner provided me with. I did measure 17 degrees at idle and 22 degrees of advance (39 overall).

I have not decided what exhaust Ill be moving to just yet, however I am leaning towards CMI E-Tops or Sport Tubes. It is currently running a Stainless Marine dry system. I've managed to squeeze a few weeks of boating in during the tail end of the season without getting pinched for sound, but I know in the peak of the season next year it'll be inevitable.

Im also all ears if you feel there is more power to be had! My overall goal is not necessarily any HP or MPH figure, but something fun, fast and reliable.

I would run dry to tip at minimum even at 112...

I'm not really sure a dry system is an option with the sound restrains I have to work with. That's why I'm hunting for some guidance on (potential) cam changes / exhaust options.

Best thing you could do if your happy with the current performance of the engine is call comp after you pull the engine and cam or rear plug and call comp with the grind numbers and any other numbers/letters and ask them about risk of reversion with your wet exhaust system and There's other variables that can cause reversion like overlap/timing events, valve size, CI, and even rod length etc. I've ran several 112 lsa cams in marine applications without problems or any signs of reversion. Some with stock Mercury cast manifolds. I learned about reversion in my early days of boating when I installed a crower with a 108 lsa. And believe it or not it wasn't that bad however I didn't idle around much at low rpm's.

Now after all that I'd swap that cam out regardless. Lots of hp potential to be had.

I would just have Stainless Marine make you custom wet risers. Make them taller at the manifold to add more downward angle.

Could you run dry to the tip and then run a clamp on muffler?

Wet exhaust won't make it quiet enough with restraints, just use mufflers on dry..
