When installing them into a boat that didn't have them to begin with, what should I be looking to do. Measure with my butt against the seat and be able to reach the steering wheel? I have pop up (faux bolster) seats now. I have older bolster seats that were lowered a few inches with manual drop outs. They will be going into a formula 232. Never did it but like to stand while I drive. Not boating in heavy seas or anything. Just always wanted bolsters. Any advice from you guys that did/do this would be greatly appreciated.

I’ll measure from the dash to the back of the seat on mine this weekend, but you’re probably gonna want to add 4-6” to whatever I come up with depending on your height. Mine’s a tight fit for anyone over about 5’10”, knees touch the dash when sitting. Start thinking about how you’re going to through bolt them. If you have access under the floor, that’s great. If not, you may have to cut access holes in the floor where the current seat base is and put pie plates in after the install.

I have access under the floor. Was planning on using back plates of some kind. I never had bolsters, nor drove in them. So I don"t know what they feel like when in them and driving. Just don"t know how far from the wheel they are?
