Default Trimp pump Vs Tab Pump

Dear Friends, Could anyone advise me on the following:
Can you use and Mercruiser Tab Trim pump part no: 8M0083288 as a trim pump for your drives
What is the difference besides the part number, Pump speed volume? The volume of the reservoir?
Can you use this or is this a no go???

Please advise.

Save yourself headaches and buy mine in the swap shop. Seriously I believe they are the same.

Trim pump has more flow and a relief valve in case the drive strikes an object, it'll let the trim go up...

Isn't the relief valve built into the rams.
There is no way you are going to flow enough oil through those little hoses if you hit something solid.
I thought I read the difference was in the output pressure. The trim pump has a higher output pressure.

The relief is in the pump.. I tested it out once by mistake.. LOL

I had my hoses and wires reversed on a build I did.. drive would go ALL the way in every time I hit the throttle

I finally figured it out.. swapped the wires and hoses and it worked fine..

yes holding pressures are different from trim to tabs pump assys
same pump and housing,,,,just the valving is different
can add spring pressure on the up valve assy to hold the tab from coming up
just as can take away some spring pressure if using as a trim pump
as stated easier to just use right pump assy

Their is a relief valve in the cylinders. And check valves in the pump. If you have the hoses reversed you were applying too much pressure to the wrong check valve.
there is more pressure on the up hose than on the down hose.
