Since this story was written, the boat has reached 114 mph with different propellers than those used in its initial testing.

Not an MTI fan at ALL, but that’s a solid number, must mean those 300s are very stout. V8!!!

As fast as twin 400's on that boat. Wow!

How can that be? I thought it was 120 with the 400's. But even that is unreal, with 200 hp less its only 6 mph slower. Wonder how the acceleration is with the 300's?

Actually, the MTI 340X is a bit faster than that with Verado 400Rs. During the speedonthewater.com sport catamaran roundup last August, the one we tested ran 121 mph and the manufacturer reportedly has achieved 124 mph. Here is the download link to the digital magazine issue that includes the roundup, https://speedonthewater.com/in-the-n...issue/download.

I heard it was more than a change of props but either way the motor seems to be very impressive and the platform shows a lot of promise. I think Mercury would sell more for the O/B cat’s but it will require a gear change or another 400 rpm of usable range. That engine with a 6800rpm max would be a great package. How about a 360 DW or 368 with triple’s!
