Default Scarab 33 AVS with 502MAG's - New to me!

Hello. Thank you for your hospitality (new member) here in this forum.
I 'm waiting to receive my new boat purchase (used) , a completely stock 2000 Scarab 33 AVS with twins 502 MAG MPI Mercruiser .
I am opening this thread because i will probably need your help for various things, given that i am in Greece and here the Scarab is not a common boat.
I will post photos and everything as the things go, from the works that will start doing.
For now, i know that it has bravo I props, 26 pitch 15.25" (in not good condition) and i have read that it is not the right choice. During a short test, i have seen 61 - 63 mph with them, but probably has something more to give ,cause i dont have the experience of that boat and i had it with wrong trimming and tabs. .
Planning to order new ones Bravo I 28pts 15.25" (as a..first gift!) and i think it will be better for top speed and cruising speed.
Am i right?
Thank you!

Good luck with the boat. They area lot of fun and underrated in the offshore world in my opinion. Bravo 28s area decent choice for an all around prop. If the engines are in good working order you should be able to run low to mid 70s with them.

As for trimming and tabs, short of rough water, keep tabs neutral or slightly above for general running, and same for drives. Do not tuck the drives to turn, as with a lot of step bottom boats, the AVS will slide and/or spin

Αfter changing a lot of things , correcting and repairing, in substance restauring everything in full functional state, the boat hits 73mph with 2 persons, 400lt fuel and everything in marching order. With 26 4blade props.
Νot had the time to fit the 28 labbed 4 blades but i believe it will go around 75-78.
Βoat is running great , in the Greek aegean sea, with no concerns about the weather.
great boat.

scarab 33 avs 2x502 mag, bravo 1 performance, 26p 4blade.

Hello from Greece.
time to change batteries for my scarab 33avs with 2x502’s.
current set up is with 3 batteries as per factory. Probably with wrong batteries rating.
i know i need group31 ,min. 750cca and as mercruiser say 150ah. But i cannot find it...!
what batteries do you run to your 502? And what battery for your services? In terms of AH , gel, agm, dual purpose etc.
what do you suggest?
thank you!

Just for the record, batteries changed. Last things done, polished all inox parts (rails, props, latham etc) , painted lowers bravo 1, leather care, and now....quarantine with all the ramps closed!
