I’m installing a pair of 200 fitches on my passenger boat. The daily trip has 5 mins of no wake zone then 1:45 min ocean trip each way daily. I want to run premix. Can I simply plug the oil line to the vro pump and run premix? Thanks in advance for any info, rm

Why do you want to run pre-mix???
If it’s to prevent VRO failure blow ups, that’s not the cause.
Im an OMC guy, have 30+ yrs experience w/the big V-6’s and run VRO on everything I can.
Including:
A 225 on a 100 mph 19’ tunnel boat that turned 7200+ every time out.
Two, twin O/B 24’ Sonics w/twin 250’s that turned 6400 every time out.
On a 300 hp mod (ficht block) Motor.
Etc, etc......
Again, I’m making the assumption on your reason but, the experts preaching that reason, are wrong.
Im currently rigging a 25’ Checkmate w/twin 225 OMCs w/..... VRO.
I install the tanks w/exterior fills so you can fill them from your dock/driveway.
I average 2-3 tanks of fuel per oil fill.
They make a large oil tank that cuts that in half.
If your Fichts are healthy, they will do far better than mine I as I am running carb’d motors.

Great point and 100%agreed.
Whats funny is Ive torn down several of those including one that I converted to carbs and one to fully programmable EFI and see/saw zero internal changes.
Oiling system must be 100% external and included in all the crap stripped from the powerheads that I modded.

Ficht engines do not use a VRO pump. The oil system is stand alone. The thing (like with everything else) is maintenance is everything. Fuel and oil quality. Spark plugs and there indexing. Decarboning every 50-100 hrs depending on oil used. Early versions can not be programmed for oil type In use a quality synthetic blend. (I started with full synthetic but it whistled through is due to lower viscosity.) The new versions can be programmed for oil type. Use quality fuel, do not buy by price. If you eat at McDonalds every day, breakfast, lunch and dinner would you live long and healthy? No. Quality oil,gas and maintenance.
One more thing is battery and battery leads. Theses do not like low voltage at start. Make sure your battery wire size is above minimum for the length of leads needed.

and these Ficht motors were the final down fall to the real OMC - And they went Bankrupt in 2000. These motors are complete junk back in the late 90 s. They could never get them right period. They wanted you to index the spark plugs and had many SB s trying fix all the BS they had going on. Then OMC filed and of course left all their dealer base with a HUGE HEADACHE. Do not ask me how I know.

My engines are low hour and I got them dirt cheap. We will see how they hold up. With any luck I get the better part of a year out of them and will replace them with 4cyl 150hp 4t’s end of the year.
