Default 06 Baja outlaw 525 efi prop ?

Have factory 26 outlaw with 525 Bravo XR 1.5 ratio, currently running stock 26 p 4 blade. Was wonder if I could prop up to possibly 28p or 30p 4 blade to get more speed. I know I’d loose some hole shot but more in to cruising speed and top end. As of right now at 5150 rpm and light load can top out at 72 gps. Cruising around 40 I see 3800-4000 rpm depending on trim and condition. Would like to see 75 top end and 40-45 at 3500-3800 rpm cruising. Any suggestions or insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Cruise and top speed don’t necessarily go hand in hand. I would try a 27 pitch mirage plus three blade if you want top speed, if it worked good then have it labbed. Cruise would probably suffer a bit. A heavily worked over 28 bravo 1 (tweaked and labbed closer to 27”) might work for cruise and still get proper WOT rpm. I tried a Rev 4 with my 496 and I liked how it carried the boat. With how deep Baja set the motors and drives on these boats a 4 blade isn’t required. Toying with props can get old in a hurry, trust me.

Only way it’d be able to spin a 30” effectively would be with a Whipple.

26p 4 blade is the factory prop. Looking like I’m just gonna stay with it. Someone just told I could bump up, figured I’d try oso to get everyone else’s .02

Call Brett a BBlades and get it labbed. He can get you a little more mid range and maybe a scratch on top.

Yea Keith probably has the best idea. Bblades can do their Baja recipe, help bow lift, and probably get a couple hundred rpms. Mother mercury says max rpm is 5200 but I think rev limit doesn’t kick in until 5400. Obviously you wouldn’t want to run it a lot above 5200. Valvetrain has been know to be questionable for higher rpm use in the 525s.

Also go over all the maintenance on your 525: Change both, yes there are 2, fuel filters. Pull the fuel injectors and have them professionally flowed and rebuilt, there are tiny basket filters on the injectors that get plugged up and restrict flow. Out of balance or dirty fuel injectors go undetected a lot. Make sure spark is at 100% with fresh wires and plugs. Scan your engine for any codes and correct them plus also ensure your at 100% power with no guardians. Pull the mechanical fuel pump and change the oil in the reservoir, at the same time confirm the lobe has not wore the fuel pump armature too much. If significant wear is spotted replace to get full 100% of your fuel pump throw. As stated have your prop gone over, blueprinted possibly labbed but your pretty much in the sweet spot now so consult the experts. Depending on your fuel availability you can also do a Whipple Stage 1 computer upgrade, it will get you 25hp and raise rpm to 6000. 91 Octane required. Before you do, make sure top end service is up to spec with newer valve springs. https://whipplesuperchargers.com/ind...product_id=113
Fine tuning and dialing it in can get you there without breaking the bank.

stock 26P bravo I’m at 37-3800 RPM running 50 mph and labbed 26 same RPM is 46 mph. Top speed for me is 72-74 on a good day with light loads.
