Matt- You mean the canopy boat has been 118 with 200s?

No. As stated in the story, the VTX 27 reportedly has run 118 mph with 300Rs but is being displayed (as noted in the caption below the photo) in Dubai with 200s.

Mystery resolved.

Oh, so I guess the pleasure boat is as fast or faster than the race boat. Interesting.

That is my understanding based on my discussion with Mr. Maldonado, which I thought seemed odd given that the raceboat is canopied and in a very general sense (there are exceptions of course) properly designed canopied boats tend to be more aerodynamically efficient than open-cockpit boats, which tend to "scoop" onrushing air, which creates drag. But who knows? Maybe the canopy adds a bunch of weight to a power-sensitive application.

Pure speculation.

That's a big number considering the 6400 max rpm and 1.75 gear ratio. Would take 36"p props with only 5% slip. They did an awesome job with the boat and colors. Matt did they indicate any price range on the 27'?

Current pricing is in the related story (published shortly after the Miami Boat Show) at the bottom of the article, and here is the link, https://speedonthewater.com/in-the-n...p-ppi-and-more. From that story:

"Approximate base/list price for the VTX 34 is $420,000 and $360,000 for the VTX 27. (With twin 300R as opposed to Verado 400R outboards, the VTX 34 lists for $390,000.) Prices will vary with lamination schedule—the boats will be offered in carbon-fiber or E-glass versions—and buyer-specified features."
