Found a nice 330ss priced right with 496s and Bravo 3s. The lake is frozen so I cannot sea trial the vessel. Asked the seller if he would write a contract contingent on a sea trial and successful survey. He said no. The boat is priced to sell, no negotiation on price,I can talk to his mechanic and look at the matenance records in lieu of a survey. The boats looks clean but what would you do?

You say the price is right and no negotiation, ask yourself, is the price really right? Can't imagine too many buyers for a boat like that without even running the engines on a hose, unless it's ridiculously cheap.

With him having that attitude it could very well still be available when it warms up. If so, at that point you should have more leverage...provided he really wants to sell it.

I believe you made the right decision. If it's still available when it warms up check it out again.
Jadento pretty much summed it up.
Option A: The guy is hurting for money and wants to move it quickly.
Option b: He is a dickhead trying to screw someone because he knows the boat has issues.
I can understand that the lakes are frozen and the boat cant be on a sea trial. What I dont understand is who on earth would be selling a formula this time of year and not be a good enough person to be willing to let you atleast run it on a hose and or a thorough survey.

Rest of the story. Know a lot of boaters from the NY north country. A few calls were made and it turns out the 330ss in Lake George is actually a FL boat with the headers and other items replaced to disguise issues. A mechanic who is framilar with the seller and knows the boat said stay away. Follow your gut.
