Default 1994 283 checkmate hull on trailer

i have no idea what this is worth, I’m thinking 15k. No motors, drives trim tabs, or transom assemblies

trailer is in good shape with new disk brakes.

Any interest? I’ll have to get pictures I know. Comes with newer cockpit cover and mooring cover as well.

If 'Twin O/B Sonic' is reading, he might have a few thoughts.
He may even want a big brother to his currentbproject.....

A buddy just bought a 1994 283 Checkmate with a 502 and a bravo drive for 15K. The boat runs great, its not a show winner, but its definitely a nice boat for the money. Honestly, you may be on the high side asking 15K for a hull that is 25 years old...with no drive train in it. There are Checkmates all over the internet for less money that have engines and drives. GLWTS...

That sounds like a good price. I have only spent a few minutes looking on swap shop and haven’t found many 283s for sale. Kicking around the idea of throwing small blocks and alphas on it. Hard to find comparable sales of any of them though. Do you have any thoughts?

There is a Checkmate forum, checkmate-boats.com, “SCT” there has an ongoing Craig’s List thread, Lots of Checkmates for sale across the US.

There was a 1998 283 with twin 454s for sale last month. Asking price was $22,500, add is down so hopefully it sold, but likely for less than asking price.

I think if you are planning to keep the boat for yourself, and you want to do a low budget build, then consider the small block/Alpha idea....If you plan to sell the boat ever, then I would stick with the BBC/Bravo1 setup.... only because it will be hard to sell a speed boat with Alpha drives....JUST MY .02
