I've been thinking about a baja 405. Also the 38 special and outlaws. True, the 405 isn't as fast as the other two models, but it's reported to cruse in the high 40's. And it looks like you could spend the weekend on it. The 405 also looks like a lot of bang for the buck. The repeated issue seems to be the hull on some of them. Any advice/suggestions/tips etc are appreciated. As other newbee's have mention, there isn't a lot of haters on this forum, and that's a nice surprise. Russell

All depends on what you are looking to do. When we bought out 272 new back in 1997 there was a 38 Special in the showroom and I thought that was the end all be all boat. We bought a 38 Special several year later and owned it for literlaly 2 weeks and got into a 36 Outlaw instead. The 38 had a ton of room etc, but drove more like a cruiser than a performance boat. Not what we were looking for. We were VERY happy with the 36. I would say make sure you water test first and get a feel for what you prefer.
