2001 Baja 25 outlaw

Long time lurker, First time poster..... Going to take a peek at 2001 Baja 25 outlaw with 496 HO. Believe the drive to be a Bravo 1. Hour meter reads 171 hours. I plan to have a survey done but in the meantime is there any that I should be Looking for before committing $700 for the survey?

Get close to it and in it and see if you notice anything out of the ordinary. Did it sit in water for extended periods of time? 171 hrs is not much usage for a 18 yr old boat. How long did it sit? See if the drive is solid on the transom, doesn’t wiggle or have free play. Typical things like motor compression etc. sea trial would be great. Good luck, hope it works out for you.

I would scan the engine hours before committing to a survey......... you should be able to tell in minutes if its a real 171 hull.

Yes I forgot to mention that. Any local mercury dealer should be able to scan it for a small fee.
