Hi Guys, I have a GM type 2 PS pump, but it only flows 3 GPM,
For the hydraulic steering rams I think i need 6 or 7,anyone know where I can get a type 2 that will flow this much..
Thanks so much
Jas

I bought a power steering pump designed for a rock crawler, its basically a modified saginaw that can run hydraulic cylinders, mine came out of Dallas, but I am sure the same thing is available in Australia, It was a big improvement over a standard automotive saginaw. Apparantly there is a different oriface that screws in the back of the pump where the pressure line comes out that can increase flow and it may be that simple.

usually pumps dont know or care what the cfm is. the relief valve and fitting orifice control that. that is why when you change pumps on a boat you can get any pump and change the valve and fitting and you are back to what you had. there are shims in the valve that control the pressure but the hold in the fitting will control the flow rate. if you drill out the hole a little it will flow more but you may have to reshim the valve to maintain enough pressure.
