Harder to get on plane without the diffuser ring. May add 50 rpms and 1/2 mph top speed.

Thanks for the reply, what's the correct part number for the bravo-1 24p? Can't find it on the mercury site.

If you have a transom lift problem and want to settle the stern cutting the bell off will make a noticeable change and will settle the transom.
It will make it harder to get on plane but if you are not running exhaust through the prop you can pull the drive apart and seal the exhaust opening at the top of the lower using lexan and 4200 to seal.
This solves the getting on plane issue.
I did this on my cat.

As I mentioned on another thread the other day, Tinkerer and I , years back, found a fix independently of each other for all the damn slip from the bell cut off. On Bravo's and Alpha's.

MY Daytona 26 does 112 @ this time. ( 800+ HP )
I think I am going to add turbos to it.
I don't like the looks of the M4 Procharger the engine was built to handle.
It either gets turbo's or I up the compression to 14 to 1 and run E85.
Engine should make 1000 HP that way.
The turbo's would be good for 1500 HP.

at 68 MPH you are not even beginning to make the drive act like a ski.
I don't think cutting the bell off a prop on a fully submerged drive is going to do much of anything at that speed.
The closer the drive gets to the surface the more it acts like a ski and WANTS to fully surface.
Cats don't like transom lift.
Pad bottom boats may benefit from a LITTLE transom lift. .
