Default Any of you guys ever put an evinrude 300 v8 on a 16 footer?

I have a fresh rude V8 300 but very limited options on a v hull where I’m located. Almost everything is a flat bottom work boat. There is a 16’ bow rider nearby. I was going to remove the deck and interior and install full length stringers and a few extra coats of glass throughout to strengthen it up and add some weight and make my own transom bracket to raise the engine as it’s a 25” mid. I am going to build a ballast box in the bow I can pack with sand bags to offset the weight of the v8. Will long tabs make it act like a longer hull? What else can I do to make it happy about having that big ole v8 strapped to its azz lol. Thanks in advance for any insight, rm

I have a 23 pitch prop which will top out mid or upper 70s. I don’t plan to prop it for more top end than that.

I thought that it would be easier to just travel a bit to get the appropriate boat but then again it looks like the op lives on an island, so maybe not

Cant be any worse than a 5000hp nitro 20’ flat bottom, right? Plenty of 18’ Sanger flat bottoms running around with a half ton of bbc in them. I say go for it!

I am on an island but I’ve looked around cartagena and there are almost zero V hulls to be had anywhere
I had an 18 ft hondo jet boat with a 600hp bbc in it and that boat was really light.

As soon as i get the boat home I will put 550 lbs in the transom and see how it sits and go from there. Thx for the feedback
