St Clements island beach areas

Anybody have any good suggestions for a beach area on the Potomac around 301 bridge/Colonial Beach/St Clements area? My son will be two in August and he likes to stretch his legs. Sharks tooth beach is great, I just can’t see spending $125 to sit in the sand. Don’t mind heading even further down river if it’s worth the haul. Thanks for your help.

St. Clements Island is a nice place. You can tie up at the dock or anchor on the south side of the island. The lighthouse is open on some weekends. Plenty of room for kids to walk around.
