Hello guys last year I bought my 28 eliminator eagle and after about 3 weeks of having it found out what looks like the PO double gasketed the oil filter or something.well I cut out all the nida core deck and have 3/4 coosa to install but worried about any oil that will be soaked in the glass. I've been wiping with ppg dx330. Any ideas on making sure it's oil free before I grind some windows through the bottom of my boat?thanks in advance

Don't know how 'wide open ' your project is but when I rebuilt my 19 the deck and tub were out so the hull was basically an open flower pot . The center tunnel of the hull had 40 years of grunge embedded in the glass and I knew it had to be spotless before I started grinding as the entire bottom was going to get a few extra layers after repairs. What I did was spray the entire thing with a few doses of de-greasing soap and then power wash the entire hull interior . You wouldn't believe the amount of loose 'furr' that came out of that thing and ended up on the ground .
Never had any dirt or oil issue after that.

Simple Green “Industrial Strength” found at Home Depot works wonders. I use it to wipe greasy hand prints off of my upholstery that nothing else touches. I still don’t have carpet so I pour some on the deck and it lifts the grime right up.

I was on the fence about pressure washing ,I'm going to give that a shot . I have the entire floor from transom to cabin out but only the port side has the oil. Im mostly worried about not getting out whatever is soaked in the glass and delaminating whatever I lay on top of it later down the road.
I have some of that simple green stuff that I use in the shop works great never though about it for the boat

If it's really bad don't rush it . Let the stuff soak in overnight after the last application so it has maximum time to attack the oil and grunge before power washing . You might have to do it more than once. If you're really anal like I am cover the boat/hull with a tight fitting waterproof cover and run a dehumidifier in it for a few days. That way you know that not only is your working surface clean it's also bone dry.

Since July Of Last Year I Have Been Cleaning, De-greasing And Finally Think I Got All Of The Oil Out. Had To Grind Some Areas Down That Will Have To Be Built Back Up But Now The Next Step In This Project Is Taking Care Of The Stringer On The Port Side, It Had Come Unattached From the Transom And From The Hull Along The Bottom About 2 Ft From the Oil Making The Glass Weak ( Majority Of The Oil Mess Was Right Above This Stringer At Transom)
Luckily This Repair Is Caused By The Glass And Not Wood So I Can Re Use the lumber. My Question Is Where Would Be The Best Place To Cut This Thing Out? This Stringer Runs From The Transom To The Wall That Separates The Cabin. I'm Thinking Just Cut The Top Off? Do You Think I Can Pull The Wood Out Successfully?

That and the Dx330 Wax And grease Remover Is What I used Worked Great, Along with a wire brush.
once I hit 10 posts I can post pics of what i have going on, Trying To figure out the best way to remove This Stringer, or If It is totally necessary to Do so.

This Is Said stringer, Only the red section is where it has separated from the hull and transom, should I cut at the fillet/ bottom of stringer or would it be possible to just cut the cap off and remove the wood while leaving the shell to lay the wood back into?
As far as the Hump That I'm asking about , there's a really thin piece of wood that runs along the stringer but I don't Understand its purpose.
