Default Power Steering Pump Eliminate

I have one engine where the power steering pump just circulates to itself, the other actually runs the Latham steering. I would like to remove it completely. Is there an idler? A kit?

I am running a Procharger, so the belt routing is interesting. It looks like I can get a shorter serp belt. Has anyone done that before?

I have the set up on one of my 502mpi's with just an idler pulley instead of the PS. The belts on both engines are the same.
It was that way when I bought it so I have no idea on any kits part numbers.
They are just Dayco pulleys on a bracket and actually the tensioner pulley and PS replacement pulley are different from the other engine.

A search of CP Performance's website turned up nothing. Nothing from Hardin either. I am going to try a few shorter serp belts and see if I can route without it. No reason to drive a pump on an engine that doesn't need it....

Its been fine for the last 16+ years. I see no reason to mess with it now.

if you lose the pump on the other one you’ll be glad that’s there.

I would hook it to your steering system if the engine with the pump goes down driving the boat will be difficult .

if you have two PS pumps, why dont you run both, as crude intentions said, if u lost motor , u would still have your power steering.

I just bypassed a 502 mpi pump that had a recirc hose on it, just got a shorter serpentine belt and it went thru all the stock routing except didnt go around that pump turning for no reason, Smitty
