I have a 242 with a single 400hp small block. right now im running a 14x21 3 blade stainless prop and i can only get 48mph out of it. I am at 5300rpm fully trimmed out and i would like to get the rpms around 4600. I like how it planes real quick but the top end seems pretty low. I was expecting around 55mph or better while still maintaining the quick planing speed. i was thinking about going to a 4 blade 23 pitch. do you think that would get me where i wanna be and still come up on plane quickly?

What man/model prop do you have now ? You have a 1.5 gear ratio drive ? 350 or 383 SBC ?

I cant remember what brand it is. It's the prop.that was on there when I bought the boat. It's a 350. 398hp and 418ft lbs of torque and yes it's a 1.5 ratio alpha
