I have a 1997 formula with a 454 MPI and the knock sensor has failed . The part is no longer available through Mercury ( part # 805443T superseded by part # 805443) and I cannot find one. Does anyone happen to know if their is any way to cross-reference it to an aftermarket part or possibly know someone that might have one ?

I saw this listed the other day for the new 540 4v Reman Mercury offers in the parts section:

Mercury-Mercruiser 840130A05 CONVERSION KIT Ignition

it looks like the same ignition my HP500 uses and they listed this as a conversion for the no longer used knock sensor mine has which is the same part number as yours. Might be worth a call to Mercury to see if it can be converted as the 540 reman appears to use the same thunder bolt V ignition.
