We all probably know what a hull identification number is on our boat, however, did you know what each number and character represents in the hull number? Thought it was interesting to find out it is broken down as follows:
⚓ Manufacturer
⚓ Five-character serial number
⚓ Month of production
⚓ Year of production
Hope you found this helpful or useful. If not, thanks for reading anyway!

I think B6 would be month and year for when the hull was laid up or pulled from mold, maybe? (so February 2006 on the example, where the model year is 2007). Basing the SWAG on my HIN information.
Edit- per BoatUS, I was (kind of) right. B6 would be the certification date expressed as month/year, the last 2 digits are model year. Sun shines on a dog’s arse every once in a while.

A= JAN B=FEB C=MAR, etc. The number is the last digit of the year when it was manufactured.
The above would not be a legit HIN. It shows manufactured in FEB 2006 and as a 2007 model year boat. It would have had to be built after Aug 1, 2006 to be a 2007.
Starting with 2019 model year boats and future, new model year can be built as of June 1 2018.
