Default Bravo XZ manufacture date by serial

Hi!

I've been looking around the net for a bravo drive serial-to-manufactured date without any luck... All I've found just says "1998 & up" but the XZ/XR was afaik introduced in 2000... The upper housing type tells me it is pre 2004.

Looking for a date on a Bravo One XZ, 0W214997....

I'm shopping for a sturdier drive than my current Bravo I to accomodate an engine swap (from 454Mag) to either a 502Mag mpi or a custom 540ci... In other words anywhere from 415 to 650hp (not decided yet...) and have found similar offerings on both XR and XZ, any suggestions on which is better?

XZ will last longer if not over powered. XR is stronger, but gears wear out faster.
Why are you worried about the year?? It really makes no difference

Year is not important at all really... Just me wanting to check the sellers facts...

I can get a complete XR incl. transom for the same price as the XZ-leg... Will probably buy both and combine the magnum/hp-transom with the XZ.. (and either sell or keep the xr as spare).

Sort of drooling around the ITS transom also but it is kind of pricey...

Off the top of my head that serial number range was roughly a 2002 year model.

Serial number 0W214997 is coming up as an MERCRUISER BRAVO 1 XR (1.35 Gear Ratio) LWP-DIR SHIP Model Number 5E36900NZ which the Model Number can be found in the following decal info link with year ranges to boot, https://garzonstudio.com/store/1998-...decal-set.html

Another way to find a specific year you could try calling a parts person at your local Mercruiser dealer or Email Merc Customer Assistance, https://www.mercurymarine.com/en/ca/...mer-assistance
