33 Scarab AVS performance test
I have run this boat with full tank and 400lbs pass 28 p bravo props.

502 dead stock GM 502s 850 Holly carburetors. would Max out at 70 mph 5050 rpm

With 502 MPI's with mods on them they world would Max out at 73 miles 5150 rpm

Now I am Running 502s with Holly HP system and AFR 305 heads The boat has picked up a massive amount of power it runs 79.6 mph at 5700 rpm


I expect the boat to be faster. I am thinking of new props, aligning drives , tuning more, timing , Checking the boat etc. Any thoughts?

Not sure what is up with your set up, but it should be faster.
A friend of mine had a 33 AVS with stock 502mpi's and it ran upper 70's and he hit 80mph with shorty lowers.

2/3 tank 4 pass today with trim at 4 san Francisco

Like I told you in our conversation before, Ive seen 85.2 gps with mine at 700 feet above sea level, stock 500 efis turning 30 labbed props w 1.5 gears BUT boat is very touchy. Struggled to hit 82 w std 30s and took 30 or 40 seconds to get from 78 to 82 mph with them Boat ran 78/79 w 28s on rev limiter at 5450. Those motors as ran in my boat made 510 or so hp on my dyno when I pulled them, Smitty

What RPM at 85.2?

5550, turned rev limiter on 500s up 100 over stock, was still touching it once in a while, had stock 180 jr springs thpugh so fidnt turn it any higher plus it ran 84 to 84.5 most time, the 85.2 was best. Agsin though, with std 30s, was a pig and couldnt pull them well

Smitty, do you know who labbed the props? Trying to compile some prop shops and + results.

stock 1.5 bravos, not xrs orshortys , labbed 30s, called partial lab when i spoke to bblades (bought them used). Only mod is I turned rev limiter up 100 rpms on motors. Raced a local guy with same boat with 540s, he was running standard 30s, I could beak him by about 1/10 mph. My boat hated standard props FWIW
