The OPA and Powerboat P1 will join forces again next year to produce the APBA Offshore Championship Series, https://speedonthewater.com/in-the-n...urning-in-2020.

Is Englewood not usually a part of that or can we hope for some joint racing in Key West instead?

I don't think Race World Offshore plans to frame it the same silly way, but I don't know that for sure. So I'll find out.

My understanding of Key West being "the first race of the season" under SBI was that it had more to do with SBI's business model/revenue stream than anything else, because it never made any chronological or logical sense. Imagine if the NFL had the Super Bowl to start its regular season ... that would be a head-scratcher for sure.

I always hated that plan .it was rob peter to pay paul all year long .
I hope it is not part of 2.0

I also saw on Facebook Speedboat Magazine that RWO is planning to add 2 more races next year in Orange Beach, AL and Lake Lanier in Atlanta, GA. I have a feeling they are going to make up their own 5-6 race championship series with the APBA. I don't understand how anyone would want RWO in 2020 after seeing some of their turnouts this year. I hope the racers stick with OPA, otherwise having too many races in one year is going to split a lot of teams up trying to decide what races to attend in 2020. A lot of the smaller teams won't be able to afford going to 10-12 races per year. I'm glad to see OPA & P1 will be having the championship series again in 2020. Michigan City was great this year. I just have that feeling that RWO is going to do everything in their power to try to make up their own championship series with the APBA.

I raced Sarasota AND Key West in 2004 when both were joint OSS/SBI races.
