Default Newbie question on “383 Stroker Multi Engine power Disconnect”

I have gone through multiply forums and found no direct reference to this so; I have a 2003 290 AJ with 2013 twin 383 Strokers which I purchased in 2016. My question is this, I have Smart Craft Generation 3 gauges link into then feeding information on the engines along with Seatalk to a C12.

What purpose do the “Multi Engine Power Disconnect” plugs serve? There is one one each engine and I can find ZERO information on their purpose.

can anyone help?

Cool Multi engine power disconnect dilemma

[QUOTE=COL_D;4716859]I have gone through multiply forums and found no direct reference to this so; I have a 2003 290 AJ with 2013 twin 383 Strokers which I purchased in 2016. My question is this, I have Smart Craft Generation 3 gauges link into then feeding information on the engines along with Seatalk to a C12.On the back right of both engines is a plug labeled “Multi Engine Power Disconnect”. There is one on the back right of both engines. Originally, Both were disconnected but when connected I finally had synchronize engine and other data that had been been missing. However, It also made it where the port engine would only work if the starboard engines was powered up. Scary part was the starboard engine no longer required the helm switch to power up but would power up with the cabin based power key switch. Also the helm ignition switch would no longer turn that engine off.

Should these plugs be plugged in or un plugged or should something else entirely different be going on. Is this what other forms refer to as “Cans”

Any help would be appreciated
Jim
