Loaded question, that needs some more parameters:

Straight line speed? Closed course (kilo record)? Long distance record? Offshore racing on a closed course?

kilo or mile record, long distanse runs are more than just boat top speed.

Default Quad FPT diesel Outerlimits SV52 got plenty of potential.

The Swedish owner of the Outerlimits SV52 is applying latest VOLVO turbo and blower tech to his quad 6.7 FPT, so there are higher speeds coming. His been a little over 110 mph without the VOLVO mods from what I've gathered. He was very good friends with the late Fabio Buzzi and has got vast experience himself with the FPT motors in his previous boat, so my hopes are high that it will be very impressive in years to come. Below is a link to an OSO thread where he's posting some info for fellows interested.

OSO thread: What happened to the quad diesel OuterLimits?

That outerlimits is fast! They have facebook site too, lot of pics. Boat looks quite heavy and complicated but works still nice.

I'm working on 47 lightning, single diesel V12 2372cid, 38,88liter all aluminium, quad cam, 48 valve engine. It weight about 800kg (1750lbs), much lighter than triple gas engines. Bosch P3000 pump is ready and fueling should be good to 2500-3000hp, depends on efficient.
six speed gearbox, crossbox to twin surface drives that I have design myself.

maybe I can make project topic some day.

Your project sounds amazing! A 47' Lightning with a monster engine driving twin surface drives is exactly what people on OSO like to read about.

We would all love to see more, if you want to post a few pics and progress updates, you could do it right here on this thread.

Good luck with your project, I admire youre thinking differently about powering a fast cruiser, very cool.
